The power generated in the engine is transmitted to the rear wheel of your moped with the help of the drive chain and the gear rim. With a smaller gear rim, which has one or more teeth less than the original sprocket, you can achieve a longer gear ratio. For you and your Sachs moped, this means a higher top speed with weaker acceleration. A larger sprocket with more teeth shortens the chain ratio. In practice, this means that you can look forward to faster acceleration, but have to accept a reduction in top speed.
